Welcome to this week’s blog, where we’re embracing the spirit of Valentine’s Day with an adventurous twist!
If you’re tired of the same old routine and craving something a touch out of the ordinary, then you’re in the right place. Get ready to ignite your wanderlust as we inspire you to create your “I Love Adventure” to-do list.
How about starting your day with a beautiful sunrise, or pitching your tent in the heart of a forest?
Why not spend a night in a gypsy caravan, double-decker bus, or a hidden treehouse? Or embark on a literary journey and visit the houses of Agatha Christine or Jane Austen.
Why not plan to do more of the things you love?
Thank you Debbie Lawrence for your beautiful artwork supporting this week’s blog
Your Love Adventure To-Do List:
10 Breaths of Fresh Air: Give your immune system some love: it loves being outside in the fresh air. Research suggests that breathing in the airborne chemicals that are released by plants called phytoncides helps us fight off infections and diseases.
Find your own very wild camping spot with Camp Wild: A directory of the best campsites that are wild, basic, and unique. The directory lists wild spaces on private land. Here is your chance to find your very first wild camping spot, under the stars, in Celtic rainforests, by a waterfall, hidden in ancient woodlands, tucked away in wildflower meadows, or the ruins of a castle. They have over 200 wild camping experiences to choose from.

Buy yourself Flowers: Buy yourself some flowers and enjoy the scent: this is your aromatherapy hit mother nature style. We all love the smell after it rains, the first smell of a new day, freshly cut grass, an open fire, Christmas trees, or a field of flowers. The smells help us feel content, happy, and relaxed. Smells are an underestimated power that can remind us to take a step back and slow down.
Pick a Secret Hideaway: Pick something you have never stayed in before and make it happen. I guarantee you will LOVE doing the research! The UK is full of amazing places to stay. Find somewhere fun to stay, what about?
- Kooky: Lighthouse, helicopter, scout hut, or a horsebox
- Wonderful: Treehouse, castle, bothie, yurt, or shepherd’s hut
- Bizarre: London Routemaster bus, railway carriage, gypsy caravan or tree tent
Read 100 Pages: Reread your favourite book, in your favourite spot with a coffee in your favourite cup. A chance to wind down and keep it simple. Give yourself some space to breathe!
Walk 20 Minutes: In a wood and be a better you: Who knew that getting outside could make you a better YOU! Psychologists suggest that exposure to nature helps us deal with the pressure of day-to-day life and tap into a calmer space within ourselves, allowing us to engage with the simpler things in life. Mother nature has her ways to provide natural stress relief, lift spirits and help tackle depression. Nature is a place to switch off, download, heal, and unwind which helps reduce stress and in turn, can have a positive effect on our mental and physical health

Visit your Favourite Author’s House: If you love a good book, how about planning to visit authors homes across the UK, and download an audiobook as you go? Here are a few to get your thinking; Rudyard Kipling, Lord Bryon, William Shakespeare, Virginia Woolfe, and Agatha Christie.
Last summer I did my very own literary tour in honour of my favourite author Daphne Du Maurier. I followed the stories in her books Rebecca, Jamaica Inn, and Frenchman’s Creek and visited Fowey, Helford River, and Bodmin Moor. You can’t visit Daphne’s house as it is privately owned. But I have since discovered that the estate has two-holiday cottages!
Find 5 Reasons To Be Grateful: Counting our blessings is a way to reflect, and practice a positive mindset. It can remind us to embrace the important things; family, friends, kindness, and connecting with a wider community.
4 Whoops of Joy: Jump on a bike and enjoy the feeling of letting go and whizzing down the road. I have just been to the New Forest with my Mum who is nearly 80, she had an electric bike and loved the freedom. That feeling will never change however old you are!

Watch a Beautiful Sunrise: Find somewhere to feast your eyes as a new day dawns. Beauty can spark creativity and soothe our busy minds. Here are a few locations to inspire you: Stonehenge, Ben Nevis, Tower Bridge, Arthurs Seat, Penarth and Talacre Lighthouse. I have always wanted to see the sunrise in the Isle of Skye and at the top of Snowdon.
Bake 10 Cupcakes: Spreading the Love! I am going to leave you with my favourite thing on my to-do list! Go out today and practice random acts of kindness (RAOK). The planning, execution, and afterglow of a ROAK is worth its weight in gold and can even be a little addictive! Here are 3 to get you going: bake 10 cupcakes and delivery them with a secret note to your friends and neighbours, leave a book on a park bench with a positive message inside or buy a coffee, and pay it forward!
Every Adventure Needs a Picnic: these two are perfect for a Valentine’s treat! Biscuits: lots to choose from starting from £8.50 – a little treat to go with a cuppa. Better still make your own, you can never beat biscuits made with love and covered in edible glitter. Drink a real-life love potion! – (think strawberries, chocolate, and a hint of rose)
So, whether you’re celebrating with a partner or flying solo, embrace the spirit of simple adventures this Valentine’s Day. Get ready to explore new horizons, and create memories that you will LOVE.
Happy Adventures……
