Come and join us making waves, celebrating women’s journeys and achievements across the globe.
Listen to this week’s podcast: to give you an idea of how the event started and what it is all about – ideas in the middle of the night, sea swimmers and glitter!
If you are a woman then you should be part of the global celebrations. International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day celebrated on March 8th, dedicated to recognizing and promoting the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. With origins dating back over a century, IWD is a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. Gloria Steinem wrote, “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.”
However far we have come, we still have a long way to go!

10 Reasons to join the Sea Swim to celebrate International Women’s Day:
BOOK HERE if you would like to join us.
Join the global conversation: by using the hashtags #InspireInclusion and #iwd2024 and search for events – go along to events near you and show your support.
Embrace a mini adventure: Swim on a beach that you have never visited before. Enjoy a new coastline and absorb the positive energy from all the sea swimmers. (You can also check out Beach Box Sauna and Sea Lanes just along the road – we guarantee you will be very impressed)
Challenge yourself: Swimming/Dipping on a cold March morning is an act of madness and courage, it is empowering and it naturally releases your inner child. Feel free to wear fancy dress and whoop as you get into the sea.
We love to celebrate: It is an opportunity to celebrate a shared experience and a chance to honour the progress that has been made in the fight for gender equality and to recognize the work that still needs to be done.
Finding Our Voices: Chat with your friends and fellow swimmers about how you are getting involved in IWD and spread the word about issues that are important to you. A chance to find your voice and speak out for what you believe in, one conversation could inspire others to take action. In our welcome talk, we asked everyone to take positive actions over the next month to support, empower and elevate one other woman.
An opportunity to embrace your inner mermaid: you can wear fancy dress, flower garlands, crowns, mermaid leggings, fluffy hats, waterproof jewels, sparkles, glamorous outfits and environmentally-friendly glitter. It’s good for your spirit to dance on a beach on a random Saturday afternoon. Not to mention enjoy lots of tea, Baileys, fizz, and homemade cakes being handed around.
Food for the Soul: Hanging out with fellow swimmers is good for the soul. There’s something invigorating about being in the water, connecting with friends and embracing the elements. You always leave feeling better than when you arrived!
Don’t underestimate the power of friendship: Swimming with like-minded people creates a sense of camaraderie and solidarity among women who share a common cause. It’s an opportunity to bond with others and make new connections. Not to mention you hug, laugh and dance in your swimsuit and wet suit gloves!
Connect: with Mother Nature, she can provide her daily dose of fresh air, sunshine, and invigorating seas. It’s an opportunity to connect with nature, recharge batteries, and take a breath.
The event is all about community: We want to connect like-minded women who are passionate about swimming and want to take part in the wider conversation about achieving gender equality and equity.
Bonus Reason: All registered swimmers will be entered into our prize draw.
Joining our sea swim is not just a moment; it’s a memory in the making. Jump in, scream and shout, make waves, and be part of a collective adventure that will stay in your heart long after the last ripple fades away on Brighton Beach.
