Welcome to #PinkNicky’s Blog, for your weekly dose of adventure ideas.

It’s Saturday morning, so grab your tea and toast. This week is all about podcasts and is in honour of Nicki Bass who hosts The Everyday Adventure Podcast – this week they have hit 20,000 + downloads. A huge amount of time and effort has gone into the recording and editing of each episode, to bring us stories from across the world. Congratulations to Nicki and her team.
Today we talk about why you should listen to podcasts and then you can download our 6 part mini series in partnership with The Everyday Aventure Podcast: the series is part of our International Women’s Day sea swim activities
I got into podcasts because every week I spend hours in the car on school runs and it is podcasts that have kept me entertained and learning as I drive about. Over the last few weeks we have been recording podcasts with the people supporting our International Women’s Day sea swim – you can listen in, to find out more about a marathon in Greenland, wild swimming in Dorset, the rise of sustainable swim wear, an Everest climb and why wellbeing should be a daily activity.
Below are the guests for our 6 part mini series with The Everyday Adventure Podcast
- Week 1: Nicky Chisholm: the inspiration behind the IWD sea swim
- Week 2: Amanda Fitzgerald: PR queen, wild swimmer and triathlete
- Week 3: Mel Rayner: the brains behind the Dorset swim retreats

10 reasons why you should tune into an adventure podcast:
- Inspiration: Adventure podcasts are a mine of inspiration and can ignite a sense of curiosity about the world. When I am researching countries to visit, I add podcasts into the mix to get nuggets of information and off-the-beaten-track ideas.
- Escapism: Immerse yourself in captivating stories that transport you to faraway places and can add a splash of adventure into your daily routine, this week I have heard about adventures in Mogolia, South America and the Yukon!
- Education: Learn about different cultures, history, and geography while exploring remote landscapes and encountering fascinating characters along the way. I like to find out the practical ways that people approach training, planning, and logistics as many adventures take many months to put together.
- Motivation: Adventure podcasts often feature tales of resilience, courage, and determination, inspiring you to pursue your dreams and overcome whatever is stopping you.
- Entertainment: Whether you’re commuting, exercising, or relaxing at home, adventure podcasts offer captivating entertainment that keeps you engaged and entertained. Sometimes my school runs can be 10 hours a week – podcasts help me feel I am not just wasting my time sitting in traffic.
- Community: Join a community of like-minded adventurers who share your passion for exploration and discovery, fostering connections and camaraderie. I connect with the podcast guests on Insta and follow what they are up to! Podcasts give a voice to many – not just the big adventures that make the news, but a voice to the everyday people walking, running, and climbing to make their own stories.
- Discovery: Uncover hidden gems and off-the-beaten-path destinations as hosts take you on a journey of discovery, I then add the destinations to my very long bucket list! I like to discover the motivation behind each story – life changes, grief, adversity, age, healing, challenge, or a lifelong bucket list idea.
- Perspective: Gain new perspectives and insights as you listen to diverse voices and stories from around the world. Podcasts allow you to listen to people that you would not normally get the chance to meet in real life – whatever your interest: climbers, runners, swimmers, walkers, storytellers, campaigners, or activists (to name a few) you can find a story that resonates with you.
- Empowerment: Adventure podcasts empower you to embrace uncertainty, take risks, and embark on your own adventures. They can make you think; If they can do it, so can I. No adventures or journeys go smoothly, curveballs are part of the process!
- Joy: Above all, adventure podcasts bring joy and excitement into your life. You can kayak around Greenland or walk across Scotland all in one day. They very often sow the seeds of ideas for what I want to do next
.
So, whether you’re a seasoned explorer or an armchair adventurer, tune in to an adventure podcast and let the journey begin!
