Hike in the Cairngorms and Highlands, Scotland

There is something for everyone in the Highlands; from skiing, to hiking in the mountains, walking the glens, roaming in the gloaming, kayaking in the lochs and wild swimming in the freezing rivers. Some people even play golf. My favourite walk was with my daughter in Clachnaben, one of the best known of Aberdeenshire’s lower hills. It was 9km long, took us 3 hours, the view from the top of the Tor, which is 511m high, was breathtaking. The weather in February was sunny, dry and clear. Just had to zig zag across some narrow rivers balancing on rocks or the remains of old washed out bridges. Great memories of ancient woods and majestic mountains.

Why is the outdoors important to you?

I am at a time in my life when things are changing – and walking and planning gives me focus and gets me outdoors training every day.

Why do you want to be involved?

I would love some photos that represent this time in my life! and postively represent a time of change for me.
