Welcome to #PinkNicky’s weekly blog, for your weekly dose of adventure ideas.
It’s Saturday morning, so grab your tea and toast. Here is your mission for the week:
What did I get up to this week: No sea swims as the sea is way too wild and just a little scary. One gym session, one ice bath session, and one mega walk along the South Downs Way in the rain, sunshine, and hail! Plus prepping for my workshop at the upcoming Adventure Mind Conference, I am so looking forward to meeting the other delegates and I have some fun up my sleeve for the workshop.
5 Ways to Inject Adventure into your week:
1. Read a book: Shape of a Boy – My Family and Other Adventures by Kate Wickers.
Shape of a Boy is a hilarious and eye-opening travel memoir by the mother of three boys as she documents her travels with her family around the world. If you think of her motto “Have kids, will travel” you can begin to imagine the shenanigans from across the world. This was my perfect holiday read: fun, easy, and an enjoyable read.
2. Watch a movie: Smoke Sauna Sisterhood at the Cinema
It’s a beautiful film. but beware it does feature some heavy emotional topics. Make sure you are in the right mood! It caught me by surprise. Check out your local cinemas to see where it’s on.
3. Enjoy the webinar series INclusivity in the Outdoors
This is a comprehensive series of webinars that focus on increasing diversity in the Outdoor Community. The 2021 Raising Our Game webinar series provided an opportunity for the Outdoor Sector to explore a range of themes around Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in the outdoors. The vision was to stimulate conversation and collaboration on EDI, inspiring action on broadening participation and strategic leadership, particularly within the Outdoor Learning community. If you want to learn about EDI and how you make active changes to improve EDI in your business or campaigns then this is for you.
I am working my way through this as I would improve EDI in my events in 2024.
4 Plan your Dorset Swim retreat
For your Swim Retreat next Easter with Land and Wave – 3 day retreat swimming located on our beautiful Dorset Coastline.
5 Prepare your YHA walks
FREE: Plan your walking routes with YHA free resources. Download maps and route guides for walks from many of the YHA hostels, choose your difficulty level from easy to more challenging. All the self-guided walks start and end at a YHA hostel.
Be Inspired: Follow The Antarctic Fire Angels Georgina Gilbert and Rebecca Openshaw-Rowe. These two female firefighters will be skiing to the South Pole, unassisted, with the aim of inspiring women and girls to achieve their ambitions.
What’s hot in adventure this week:
Edinburgh’s Lost Shore Resort is the world’s first inland surfing resort. A 60-acre surfing facility in Scotland due to open 2024.
It’s time to get out of bed and find today’s adventure!
Over and Out
