Making My Own Way

I co-founded Waytrails, a startup app business made to encourage people to explore our tried and tested trails through hiking, biking, and running activities in remarkable locations. We’d love people to engage and have easy access to culture and history through trails. We meet some amazing solo women hikers and cyclists and our trails are tested so that risks are minimised and we can all feel safe on the trails.

Why is the outdoors important to you?

Honestly? My kids once said to me ‘Only daddies run’! So I wanted to show my children that mothers/women can do anything, have really cool jobs, create something for others while also being part of the outdoors, be fit and be challenged by adventure. I love what I do.

Why do you want to be involved?

Hearing how women can create strong communities in the challenge and adventure world is what drives the tech I want to create for them. I think seeing women in likeminded environments where overcoming challenge in adventure is so powerful. You ask how I relate to changes, challenges and kick-starts: I’m navigating divorce, a SME App starter, global trail creator, nearing 46 and learning a LOT but mainly that life can have rapids as well as pools but stick to your guns and your friends.
