Ten days travelling around Nepal staying with a Nepalese family in Kathmandu along with others of all ages and backgrounds from all over the Globe. Experiences included a near death situation going through the Himalayas on what can only be described as a “vintage can on wheels” with a questionable fit to drive driver. Watching the sunrise over Mount Everest and facing my fear of the anaconda type driving through the jungle in chitwan and going through crocodile infested waters on a dodgy wooden canoe and witnessing extreme poverty yet despite this, some of the happiest people I’ve ever met!

Why is the outdoors important to you?

After going through domestic violence, mental health issues, suppressing my sexuality to fit into societal norms, being a young mother to three children one with a genetical disorder causing severe disabilities, mental health issues and moving to East Sussex away from everything and everyone I knew, I decided to put my own adventurous wants and my own wellbeing way up there on the top of the list and thought f#c# it, the only person stopping me for being myself and doing what I love is me. So after a ton of organising and lot’s meltdowns and doubts around leaving my disabled daughter, I did it. And my god I’m so glad I did! Being outdoors brings me a sense of freedom. It’s grounds my soul, slows my busy mind and brings me back to being Jade.

Why do you want to be involved?

I want to be able to encourage anyone, especially special needs mothers that feel trapped really can achieve (and deserve) more than they realise!
