Running a marathon to celebrate ten years diagnosed with MS

I’m training for a marathon in 2025 to raise awareness and funds for research into MS, a condition that affects your brain and spinal chord. This marks a ten year milestone for me and one I wanted to celebrate positively, although I’ve never run more than 5k before so it’s a big challenge. I’m lucky to have access to an effective treatment that means I’m well enough to run, however there is still no cure. After five years volunteering for the MS Society, I know we need to raise vital funds to stop MS and support the 130,000 people living with the condition in the UK.

Why is the outdoors important to you?

It was important to show that there wasn’t anything I couldn’t achieve because of MS. Don’t let anything or anyone else limit your potential.

Why do you want to be involved?

My sister shared the opportunity with me as she is supporting me to train for the marathon. I love being part of communities that empower women and this event seemed like a great example of that.
