Today’s blog is all about the videos and photos that you may have missed last week. We have loved seeing all your messages and photos of you enjoying the day. We know it’s a unique way to celebrate International Women’s day, but we also know the sea swimming community are a hardy bunch, up for fun and can “weather” a few rain clouds, we also figured the more the merrier!

We had 100’s of photos from the event, all showing how much fun you can have on a cold March day, in your costume, on the beach with a sprinkle of fun. I have picked my 4 favourite photos because of the messages behind them!
For me I have always been interested in the environment, my journey started with a degree at university and then in my frontroom when I watched the news in 1985 when French Secret Service agents blew up the Rainbow Warrior, in Auckland harbour. One of the crew, the photographer Fernando Pereira, drowned as the ship sank.
Then a few years later, I saw the the Exxoon Valdez shipping oil spill on the news, it was the first major environmental disaster I remember seeing live on TV!

Statements of Support 2025:
Next year we would like to include more swimmers, but for this to become a reality we will need some support from the sea swimming and wider business community.
We are looking for the following volunteer skill set:
- We will be looking to put together a group of Ambassadors that can help spread the word about the event into their communties via social media and increase diversity to attract a broader range of swimmers.
- Sponsors
- Lawyer: specialist in event industry
- Business that has Public Music Licence
- DJ with PA system (run from battery)
- Printer – for event Banners and hand held flags
