Today’s topic is most definitely a favourite of mine, comfort zones take years to build; it’s a skill you need to practice and hone over a lifetime. Every experience you have along the way adds to your internal building blocks and builds a strong foundation upon which you can expand.
Set yourself a goal to work on expanding your comfort zone in 2025.
“The hardest thing to do is leaving your comfort zone. But you have to let go of the life you’re familiar with and take the risk to live the life you dream about.” – T. Arigo
So many times over the years, my legs have turned to jelly, and I can feel panic rising as my comfort zone is well and truly put to the test. Two stand-out moments are standing on the start line of the Greenland half marathon, shaking at the enormity of the remote run ahead and standing on top of a 50-foot pole, and being ready to jump off as a leap of faith exercise on a team building day. But I did both, and in the end, the remoteness of the Greenland run was what I loved the most about the event. I learned that jumping off high things is scary, and I don’t fancy doing it again! Many years ago, I was interviewed on live TV on a morning chat show with Vanessa Feltz; I hated the experience and went to the pub afterwards to help my poor nerves recover! I gave it my best shot, but live TV was not for me – it did not help that I sat next to a semi-naked Olympic swimmer in the green room just before I went on! He was so tall, fit and handsome that I found it hard to concentrate!
What could you do to expand your comfort zone in 2025?
