Indoor Fundraising Ideas to Make a Big Impact
Grab a pen and paper and start sketching out a plan. What can you make happen with your skills, resources and time available? It’s time to create your fundraising strategy!
Key things to remember when planning your indoor fundraising events:
- Give yourself plenty of time to organise the event; plan a 3-week lead-in for small events and 8- weeks months for more significant events
- Plan set up and take down times: it always takes longer than you think
- Create a support team right from the start
- Play to your strengths, resources, and contacts
- Make sure all events are safe and you have carried out a risk assessment (Templates can be found online)
- Have a marketing plan for your event: use WhatsApp groups, social media, flyers, posters, word of mouth, social media community groups, and local newsletters
- Plan toilet access, parking options, and rubbish removal

Indoor Fundraising Idea Number 1: Quiz Night
Everyone loves a quiz night, along with a few drinks and snacks. This is one of the most straightforward fundraising events to organize, and you can download all the quiz questions online. The key here is to make the questions interesting and not too challenging.
Venue Choose a location that can accommodate your expected number of participants. Consider a community hall, local pub, school, or even an outdoor setting if appropriate. Ensure the venue has enough seating, tables, and space for quiz-related equipment (microphones, screens, etc.).
Quiz Content and Structure Quizmaster: Choose a lively and engaging quizmaster who can keep the energy high and the event moving.
Rounds and Questions: Plan different quiz rounds (e.g., general knowledge, sports, music, history) and tailor the difficulty based on your audience. Include a mix of fun and serious questions to appeal to a wide range of participants – throw in some local-based questions.
Fundraising Strategy Ticket Sales: Set a ticket price that covers event costs while raising funds. To encourage more participation, you could offer discounted group rates.
Additional Fundraising Activities: Consider other ways to raise money beyond ticket sales, such as a raffle, silent auction, or selling snacks and drinks.
Prizes and Incentives Top Prizes: To attract participants, offer appealing prizes for the winning team. These could be donated items or experiences like vouchers, hampers, or event tickets.
Consolation Prizes: Consider offering smaller prizes for second place, last place, or for fun categories like “Best Team Name.”
Promotion and Marketing Advertising: Promote the quiz night through social media, local community boards, email newsletters, and flyers.
Early Sign-Ups: Encourage people to register early by offering early bird discounts or guaranteeing a table for those who book in advance

Indoor Fundraising Idea Number 2: Fashion Show
This significant event will require a long lead-in time and a team to ensure its success. Start early and allocate jobs.
Venue Choose a venue that suits the style and size of the fashion show. Consider spaces like event halls, hotels, or schools for a runway, audience seating, and backstage areas for models. Ensure the venue has amenities like spare rooms, lighting, and sound systems.
Designers, Models, and Fashion Designers: Contact local designers, boutiques, or fashion brands willing to showcase their collections as part of the event. Highlight that it’s for a good cause and it’s a local audience, which may encourage participation.
Models: Recruit models to walk the runway. Ensure diversity in representation and enough time for fittings and rehearsals before the event.
Fashion Theme: Choose a theme that ties the fashion together (e.g., sustainable fashion, casual wear, evening gowns). This will help give the event a cohesive and professional feel. Include a showstopper category for some wow factor.
Fundraising Strategy Ticket Sales: Set a ticket price that reflects the event’s exclusivity. VIP tickets could include perks like front-row seats, backstage passes, or unique gift bags.
Sponsorships: Partner with local businesses or fashion-related brands to sponsor the event, providing financial support or donating products/services for auction or raffle.
Additional Fundraising Activities: Incorporate other fundraising methods such as a silent auction, a raffle, or selling event merchandise like branded t-shirts or accessories.
Logistics and Production Runway and Staging: Design the runway layout, lighting, and sound for maximum impact. To create a polished experience, you’ll need to hire or coordinate with professionals who can handle lighting, music, and stage design. Contact the local school, 6th Forms, or Amateur Dramatics groups.
Backstage Organization: Ensure smooth coordination backstage with designated areas for hair, makeup, and quick changes. Assign someone to manage the models and outfits to prevent delays during the show.
Rehearsals: Schedule rehearsals to ensure models know the runway’s timing, choreography, and transitions. Also, rehearse any scripted moments like introductions or speeches.
Promotion and Marketing Advertising: Promote the event through social media, local media outlets, flyers, and email newsletters. Use engaging visuals like teaser shots of the fashion pieces, behind-the-scenes content, or interviews with designers to build excitement.
Influencer and Media Engagement: Invite local influencers, bloggers, or media outlets to cover the event. Their involvement can help draw more attention and attendees.
Event Branding: Ensure the branding and cause are visible throughout the event (banners, programs, social media hashtags) so the audience understands the mission behind the show.

Indoor Fundraising Idea Number 3: Cheese and Wine
This event can be as big or small and as elegant or informal as you want it to be. You could also consider these alternatives: Charcuterie and Cocktails, Beer and Cheese, or Chocolate and Champagne. The key is to get someone who knows about the products.
Venue Choose a venue that reflects the elegant nature of a wine and cheese event. Consider places like a vineyard, upscale restaurant, event space, or even a private home with a suitable ambiance. Ensure enough space for mingling, seating, and wine/cheese stations.
Wine and Cheese Selection Variety of Wines: Offer a curated selection of wines to cater to different tastes. Include reds, whites, and sparkling wines, and consider featuring local wineries to add a regional touch. Have a sommelier or wine expert on hand to guide guests through pairings.
Cheese Pairings: Offer a range of cheeses (soft, hard, blue, and specialty cheeses) that complement the wines being served. Provide details on the pairing recommendations so guests can enjoy a more enriching experience.
Fundraising Strategy Ticket Sales: Set a reasonable ticket price that covers costs and raises funds for the cause. You can offer tiered pricing with VIP tickets, including exclusive wine tastings, reserved seating, or additional perks.
Wine Sales or Donations: Partner with wineries to offer a portion of wine sales or special wine bottles as donations to the fundraising mission.
Logistics and Setup Seating and Atmosphere: Create a comfortable and inviting environment with stylish seating areas, high tables, or lounge areas for guests to mingle. Soft lighting, candles, and background music can enhance the mood.
Wine Stations and Service: Set up multiple wine and cheese tasting stations, each with different pairings, so guests can move around and try different combinations.
Promotion and Marketing Targeted Invitations: Market the event to a specific audience who appreciates wine and cheese, such as local wine clubs, foodies, or corporate donors. Send out elegant invitations and use social media to build anticipation.
Sponsors and Partnerships: Partner with local wineries, cheese producers, or gourmet shops for sponsorships. They can contribute wine or cheese samples in exchange for promotion, lowering costs while offering unique products to guests.
