About

I’m a self-confessed adventurer, love a challenge, delight in cold shenanigans and am ready to embrace the next stage of my adventure life. My super powers are making things happen and connecting people, and I’m the Queen of pushing myself out of my comfort zone. My friends have nicknamed me #pinknicky as I love a pink bobble hat!

If I ever ring you and say I have an idea – either jump in with both feet or run for the hills!

I lives in Brighton with my husband, 2 teenage boys, and Daisy my camper van.

I would describe myself as an everyday adventurer. I try to squeeze adventure into every day from walks, swims and runs, to films, podcasts and books.

My passion is to show that adventures and women aged 50+ go together like strawberries and cream! Now more than ever, the Outdoor Community welcomes and encourages women to get involved. We have so many female-focussed events, communities, kit, festivals, challenges, and activities. Search them out and take one tiny step to get involved. You will not regret it.

My very first adventure at 18 was on a Tall Ship called The Sir Winston Churchill. I’ve loved adventures ever since, although I still get seasick 30 years on!

At 52 my adventure journey has changed many times over the years, from a 20-year-old canoeing and sailing instructor; to a mum with young children teaching them to embrace the outdoors through camping, building dens and cooking on open fires; to a mum of young teens who surfed, coast steered, climbed Ben Nevis, swam in the North Sea, and went on adventures in Daisy the campervan.

My boys are in their late teens now, and are slowly flying the nest, so it is here that I find myself, ready to embrace the next stage of my adventure journey.

My adventures have included trekking in Thai Jungles, Moonwalks, marathon walks, fire walks, abseiling down castles, coast steering, a cross country ski marathon in the Arctic Circle, a wing walk, training in an Environmental Cold Chamber at the University of Sussex at minus 20, a half marathon in Greenland, and searching for parrots in Peru.

Every year for the last 10 years I’ve set myself a challenge to take part in a big event and/or raise money for charity.

Take a look at what I’ve been up to!

For the last 15 years I have owned businesses around my family, running professional networking events for female entrepreneurs across the UK. I ran 100s of events every year, won awards, ran special events at Google Campus, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, NatWest Bank and carried out crazy PR stunts that included a double decker bus, a flash mob, a 9 ft polar bear, and a live radio broadcast whilst paddling in the sea! By the time I left they had welcomed over 50,000 visitors; I knew it was time for a change.

My two favourite networking events were at the Houses of Parliament when I met James Bond, and Buckingham Palace when I had tea with a Prince.

On my 50th birthday, it was time for some big decisions. I wanted to move on from running my own business and set myself a big, bold, cold challenge. I was ready for a new chapter!

So, in Oct 2022 I set myself up as a Blogger in the Adventure space, and signed up to run a half marathon in Greenland across a glacier in minus 10. It was the biggest and most extreme event I had ever taken part in but I totally loved it. The photos of me out on the glacier show the utter glee on my face!!

In June 2023, I travelled out to Peru, visiting the Amazon Rainforest, searching for parrots, and fell in love with Machu Picchu and South America. My recent adventures included off grid living in Sweden and a self supported cross country ski expedition on the Arctic Circle in Norway.

The outdoors has always been my go to place for adventure, fun, holidays, calm and for healing. My Mum and Dad introduced me to living adventurously as a child and it is this legacy that I am passing onto my boys. Each experience can be tucked away in their memories, and each time their comfort zone grows and grows.
